MARAUDERS

Marauders are ruthless space-faring pirates that have come to Nexus to plunder the planet for its treasure and other valuable resources. Often found in the unmapped regions of space beyond the Fringe, marauders are descended from merchant crews that fought in the Traders' War--an interstellar conflict that happened more than a thousand years ago. Branded as pariahs by their respective civilizations, these crews were forced into exile--eventually becoming the bloodthirsty pirates that prey upon freighter captains and other spacefolk throughout the galaxy today.

Marauder crews are comprised of three races: the tech-savvy Oghra, the thick-headed Grund, and the cunning Eeklu. They can be casually cruel and murderous, slaughtering without remorse in their endless pursuit for treasure and wealth. Most Marauder captains dock their ships among the asteroids of the Halon Ring, a convenient hiding place from which they can loot and pillage both on and off the planet's surface.

In the light of the recent loftite rush, the Deadstar Marauders sent a raiding party to Algoroc, where Exile miners and prospectors are hoping to strike it rich. Led by the brutal Captain Thokov, this ruthless band of killers plundered the Exile mining camp of Tremor Ridge, stealing their possessions and taking a number of prisoners as hostages or worse...

ARCHIVE FUN FACT! The term "tanked" has special meaning for the Marauders. Most Marauder ships are not known for comfort, and a strict hierarchy based on seniority often results in new members sleeping near--or even in--the ship's sewage reclamation tanks.

THE DARKSPUR CARTEL

The Darkspur Cartel is a powerful and well-organized crime syndicate feared throughout the galaxy. Hailing from the dangerous reaches of the Darkspur Nebula, the Cartel uses intimidation, extortion, and violence to expand its criminal empire--and most recently on planet Nexus. Seeing almost limitless opportunity on the planet's lawless frontier, the Cartel's influence has spread to many developing Dominion and Exile communities--causing alarm among the leaders of both factions.

The Cartel is led primarily by the Krogg--a hulking humanoid race armored with thick, scaly skin and sharp bony protrusions. Considered the criminal vermin of galactic society, the Krogg are cunning and savage bruisers who rely on their predatory instincts to shake down the weak and the helpless. Beneath the Krogg, the Cartel employs thugs and criminals from many races across the galaxy, united solely by their voracious appetites for brutality, wealth and power.

The recent surge in demand for loftite crystals in Algoroc attracted the attention of the Cartel--and they sent the high level Krogg enforcer Morek Throg to the frontier town of Gallow. After publically disposing of the town's peacekeeper, Throg has ordered his minions to seize control of local mines while terrorizing the town's inhabitants. Rumor has it that the infamous Judge Kain will soon arrive in town, but the Darkspur Cartel has plans to deal with the hardened lawman...

ARCHIVE FUN FACT! The Darkspur Cartel is also aggressive when it comes to fashion. Several of the galaxy's finest clothing districts have been reduced to rubble by inter-gang warfare over the latest thin ties, high-collared jackets, and fluorescently embellished armors.

THE CROWE GANG

The Crowe Gang is a cutthroat band of mercenaries, bandits and highwaymen. Known for preying upon the miners and frontiersmen who have settled in Algoroc, the Crowe Gang has long been wanted by the Exile Judges--but capturing them has been difficult, as they are well acquainted with the many caves and hidden passes located throughout the territory.

The Crowe recently bought themselves protection from the Exile Judges by allying themselves with the Darkspur Cartel. Without fear of legal retribution, the Crowes have taken over an old mining town to north of Gallow, setting up a profitable bootlegging operation brewing slush--a potent hooch outlawed by most Exile communities. Using their new criminal connections, the Crowes have been running slush all over Algoroc--selling it to the miners and townsfolk who find themselves oppressed by the Darkspur Cartel.

The Crowes are worried about the imminent arrival of Judge Kain and his Justices--but their bootlegging operation is making them stinking rich, and they will do anything in their power to make sure that the good times don't come to an end...

ARCHIVE FUN FACT! Slush is a potent beverage. Along with being a well-known intoxicant, it is has also been used for window cleaning, paint removal, and rocket fuel.
